Abstract

Award Rubric ALT 2011 Learning Technologist of the Year Award – up to 6 prizes to be won by teams and individuals Are you or do you know someone or a team who is outstanding in using technology to support learning? If so why not enter (or encourage them to enter) for the 2011 Learning Technologist of the Year Award? The Award's overall purpose is to celebrate and reward excellent practice and outstanding achievement in the learning technology field. This year the award is open to individuals and teams based anywhere in the UK, and (this is newly added on 15 April 2011), to individual ordinary and certified members anywhere in the world. The award will be judged by a panel chaired by Carol Higgison, President of ALT. The panel is: * Dave White - representing last year's team winner (the TALL team from the Department for Continuing Education at the University of Oxford); * Kevin McLaughlin - one of last year's individual winners (St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, Whetstone, Leicestershire); * Jane Hart - Founder of the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies; * Peter Twining - Head of the Department of Education at the Open University; * Christine Lewis - UK&EU Justice ICT Advisor, Ministry of Justice. Awards will be presented in Leeds at the 2010 ALT Conference on the evening of 6 September 2011, during the Conference Gala Event. First, second and third prizes will be available in each of two categories: individual, and team, as follows: 1st prize £1000; 2nd prize £600; 3rd prize £300. The closing date for entries is Thursday 26 May 2011. Face-to-face or telephone or virtual interviews of short-listed entrants will take place on 15 June (in either London or Birmingham if face-to-face). Applicants will be informed, if invited for interview, by email, on 10 June.
